What do you mean by hermeneutics? The term hermeneutics is derived from the Greek word hermeneutikos which means to interpret. On the other hand, religious scholars define hermeneutics as a science of methodological principles of interpretation. Howeverthrough frequent and constant use, the terms take a new semantic view. Thus, philosophers and applied linguists refer to it as the art of understanding oneself. It is an art because it brings out an idea of a self-analytical skill which can be acquired by observation, experience, and formal study, More precisely, hermeneutics is the art of understanding our self: the elusive self, the unique self, and the many selves concept in us. It is also a
method of doings elf analysis of ones worth and merit.
