Cataning Elementary School is located at Quirino Street, Barangay San Jose, Balanga City. It was described and bounded as a parcel of land (Lot 4, Block 16 of the subdivision plan Psd-29882, being a portion of Lot 1082 of the Catasdral Survey of Balanga, C.L.R.O. Cad. Rec. No. 179), situated in the Municipality of Balanga, Province of Bataan. Bounded on the NE. by Lot, Block 16 of the subdivision plan and Cataning River; on the SW. by the Cataning River and Lot 5, Block 16 of the subdivision plan; and on the NE. by Lot 9 Block 17 of the subdivision plan, containing an area of TEN THOUSAND SQUARE METERS (10, 000), more or less. The land was originally registered on January 19, 1928 but the school itself was completely registered on September 25, 1957 with a certificate title number T-48192.
Based on the documents, the land area of the school was used as rice field and was owned by the spouses Melchor Tuazon and Maria de Leon Tuazon, residents of 86 N. Domongo, San Juan Rizal; AmandoMonzon de Leon and Teodora Monzon Dizon, both residents of Balanga, Bataan. Soon, they agreed to sell the property for use as Cataning School Site for the sum amount of P 1,000.00 to the Municipal Government of Balanga, Province of Bataan. The said transaction was represented by former Balanga Mayor Pedro R. Dizon.
And earlier, according to the residence of Barrio Cataning, the reason why they called the said school as Cataning Bo. Elementary School instead of calling Lote San Jose Elementary School was because of the exact site of the school. The location can be found at Barrio Cataning but the front gate was built in Lote San Jose, Municipality of Balanga and Province of Bataan.
Afterward, when Barrio Cataning became Barangay Cataning, the school management removed the word barrio and finally called it as Cataning Elementary School.
The school site was acquired in accordance with instructions contained in Circular No. 48, S. 1932 with one stage, two Pre-fab (Marcos Type Building), Pre-fab (Army Type Building), Two story Building, H.E. Building, Boy’s Toilet, Girl’s Toilet and Flag Pole
At present, the school site is composed of 6 DepEd Bldgs., BOD Bldg., 2 Marcos Type Bldgs., LGU Bldg. ESF Bldg., 2 BagongLipunan Bldgs., Fil-Chi Bldg. 2 Logo Find Bldgs., one stage, Boys and Girls’ Toilet and Flag Pole.
And the total population of the pupils for the school year (2014-2015) is 1,548 and handled by 36 permanent teachers and 2 volunteered kinder teachers with 4 administrative aides, under the management of the principal, Mrs. Ma. Elena V. Medina.
Prior to this, Cataning Elementary School has become a child-friendly school, an implementer of School-Based Management (SBM) Program and recently accredited by the Accreditation Program for Public Elementary Schools (APPES – Level 1).
