An essay is a short piece of writing about a particular subject or topic. It follows structure or procedure usually exhibiting writer’s argument. But what maybe the reasons why students in the secondary level still could not write good and meaningful essay?

An effective essay writer need not a good pen as sword but a good bunch of vocabularies and few simple steps to begin with. Since essay is more of procedural in many ways, it can be as simple as you might think. There are easier ways for the writer to navigate his ideas on his essay , as easy as counting one to three.

The Introduction- its principal purpose is to present your position on the issue. Usually begins with an interesting sentence, or can be a quote from a famous person, a statistic data or a rhetorical question. It tells what the essay is all about.

The Body- tells the main points and sub points in a new paragraph. It starts from topic sentence that clearly links the paragraph to the rest of the essay. The body supports evidences for each idea that the writer makes. The presence of transition words like however, nevertheless, moreover, furthermore, in addition to are evident, that is, to indicate to the reader how the previous paragraph is related to the new paragraph.

The Conclusion-this part summarizes the main ideas or main points. It suggests ways in which your conclusion can be thought of in a larger scope. It gives implications and arguments by helping the reader to remember the points you are relating in your essay.

Writing needs sharp mind and wider vocabulary but starting from simple steps and procedures can be beneficial.
