Teaching is not only profession but also a mission and this means of a big sacrifice. Both parents and educators have special role to achieve the quality education. They should join hands and ask the help of somebody above to guide us in everything we do.
Everywhere I go, I can hear the most controversial issue of our country today in connection with the field of education which is Quality Education Towards Philippines 2010. I can hear through the radio, topics on gatherings and as we can see in the roof of the school buildings.
It is pleasant hear to hear the meaningful word, quality. But the question is, “How can quality education be achieved for that target year”?
There are three things or reason to be considered to achieve this goal.
First, is the environment of the child in which he or she growing up. Is he or she brought up well by his or her parents? In the six- year life of a child, many characteristics have already developed. Comparing to a tree, it has become so strong already that when a strong wind comes, it could not easily be broken. If the parents lack of concern for their children especially for their basic needs, what will happen? How can a child assimilate in his mind the lesson taught if she or he has empty stomach? Or she or he has no paper and pencil? Or she or he has to take care of her or his younger brothers or sisters?
Parents have a great responsibility to their children and it could be noticed that from the moment a child is born, they will start the most difficult task of molding this innocent angel. Of course, she or he cannot see the light of the world without a father and mother. So they should face the truth and it cannot be denied.
Second, the school must be conducive to learning , well- ventilated and have a very good atmosphere. That also leads to the good expectation of an individual.
Third and last, the mentors who will be dedicated, resourceful, workaholic, affectionate and ready to serve the youth who depend upon on what will be fed o them. It is up to the teacher who will find ways and means and to be kind hearted since the teacher is the second mother of the pupils. If we can give the children or let them borrow some pencil or paper , that means a lot to the one concerned. Not to praise myself, but I have done this in many times in my experience in teaching for nine years in teaching in school. Teaching is not only a profession but also a mission. doing a mission is a sacrifice but it is relevant to our line of duty as molders of the youth.
