This problem has been as old as teaching history itself. Countless cases of Teacher-Parents, Teacher-Student/s and Student-Student issues in line with classroom discipline made its way to the limelight. Diverse issues, remedies/ interventions are commonly observable. But the question remains, what can possibly be the secrets of having a disciplined class? Allow me to share some of my thoughts on how to be a good classroom manager:

First, at the onset of the school year , set house rules to follow. Have a copy of the house rules and post it at the visible area where everybody can read the rules to be followed by them.

Next, Make  your rules easy to understand together with the consequences for breaking the rules. Make it a point to punish the rule breakers.

Third , As a manager be fair. Make sure that all your students get the same punishment for doing any offense, even if it is your best student. And on the other side, make sure too that all your students will get equally rewarded for a job well done.

Fourth, be consistent with your classroom discipline. Yes, of course sometimes, cracking a joke is a good idea if things are too stiff. But never let it be abused. Little humor will get them back to track.

Fifth, try to avoid confronting your student in front of his peers. You can do it in a corner for privacy’s sake! Be sensitive. Putting the learners in an embarrassing situation will get things worse rather than being solved.

Lastly, you should walk your talk. Do not break your own rules. Live a modest life. Be their best example. Be their greatest inspiration instead of desperation.

These , my dear teachers when religiously followed may enhance your skills in classroom management. If you fail the first time you tried, never to surrender. Try and try to follow these tips until they become your habit.
