Is teaching an art? Is teaching a learned skill? For me, I believe it is a little bit of both. There is an art to teaching. Sometimes it comes natural. Sometimes it needs to be drawn out over time. Perhaps experience and longevity contribute to this “art.” .Although you have to sacrifice a lot of things. Certainly there are many ways in order to be a great or even a good, teacher! Just like my college professor always told us that the fashion of teaching never ends! It is on you, how to make all things right always love your profession! Love what you are doing! Because at the end of the day, it is all worth it? What makes a truly good teacher?

Are these skills acquired or natural? First of all, you must be there in your classroom. Be there on time and regularly. If you are not excited to be there, how can you teach? It’s as easy as that. Simple things, simple rules, simple task but sometimes others are not doing it and intentionally they hate doing simple things because they are exhausted in their work and if that happened who will suffer…. The pupils…..your pupils that believe in YOU so much.

Be friendly, positive, fair and balanced. If you are strict, unfair, pessimist stressed conflict may occur. You will be respected if you do the right things and do the things right. Pupils want rules and expectations. But they want you to be fair and everyone on a level playing field. You are not there to trick your students or make life especially hard. Stay motivated and you will be able to motivate your pupils also.

Know each and every one of your pupils in a personal and professional way. Be there for them. Always. If it means getting to school early, staying late, or even giving up a lunch break, do it. Nobody is going to help your pupils more than you.

Parents also want teacher to involve them, even if just for conversation. An added bonus is that calling home is a great classroom discipline technique. You can ward off problems by calling parents on a regular basis. It really does not take much time. Always believe in yourself! Your techniques and strategies will help you to meet your objectives. Unintentionally you will not just be a good teacher but  a “GREAT TEACHER”.
