Being a teacher has a lot of challenges to face. Teaching effectively on diverse types of learners can be very difficult to handle, especially to those who are novice in teaching profession. The following are some habits you may adopt to teach effectively.
- Be an everyday prepared teacher. You are a teacher and your job is to prepare these learners for the future. Making your tomorrow’s lesson is not only preparing for their lesson tomorrow, but also preparing them in the future.
- Be resourceful and creative. Provide the appropriate instructional materials for each lesson. You should get their attention and make them interested on the lesson.
- Be a designer. Have a variety of learning activities for different types of learners. Consider their abilities and interests in providing learning activities.
- Be a facilitator. Lessons are hard and that is already given. We are teachers, we should know or think a teaching approach wherein students can learn and understand the lesson easily.
- Be a challenger. Make them think on their own. Explain to the learners that not everything is easy. Design a lot of assessment tools that will measure the learning competencies you aim.
- Be passionate. Know the difference between doing what you love and love what you are doing. Just enjoy teaching.
