Looking for a job and eventually applying for a position in a frim is probably the hardest thing to do after schooling. Searching the job market and getting the desired work amidst the difficult competition requires too much effort. But then, after winning the job, one must know how to stay in the game and most probably how to be an ideal employee.

An ideal employee should know his duties and responsibilities. But knowing those is enough. He should be able to perform all of them. What are those duties and responsibilities? It depends upon the work one is engaged into. Different works require different responsibilities.

A policeman needs to look after the security and welfare of the people. A doctor must ensure that his patient’s health is well taken cared of and a court judge should allow justice to prevail in all his decisions. As for a teacher like me, I have the responsibility of molding students to be productive and morally upright citizens of our country. I should possess qualities and attributes that other employees should possess such as hard work, dedication, honesty and all those good values we have learned from our parents to our Character Education classes.

An ideal employee should do his job not only because of the compensation he will receive at the end of every month but for the improvement of the company, as well as for the benefit of its employees. He must do his work not because he wants to receive any bonus, merit or any kind of recognition but because he is expected to do such.

Being an ideal employee does not require anyone to always be on top. It does not require anyone to always be on top. It does not necessarily mean that one should not commit any mistakes. Nobody is perfect, we all know that. We are only humans and we are all here to make mistakes and eventually learn from them.
