Being a teacher is not an easy job. It is a noble profession because it requires sacrifices. He is the mentor of pupils and a manager of classroom. He faces various form of changes in the school like curriculum development, pupils transition and performance, and parent support. These are big challenges to him for him to cope with.
Here are some suggestions that a teacher can follow to accomplish his task and be a good provider and manager of learning.
- Set your objectives and simplify it
- Budget your work and time wisely
- Be concerned with pupils
- Work with the heart and mind
- Equip yourself fully.
- Put God first
- Accept rooms for improvement.
Ask yourself what are your priorities. Increase pupils academic performance? Beautification and structuring of classroom? Behavior of pupils? From that objective prepare activities that can accomplish it well.
Follow the plan you set. Don’t put off tomorrow what you can do now to avoid backlogs. Every minute is important. Work to the best of your ability.
Love your pupils. Do not take them as a client but as a member of the family. Know their needs, problems, interest, attitudes and capabilities. Take time to see them and talk to them in and out of the classrooms. Do something to meet their needs, solve their problems and enhance their good attitudes, interest, skills and abilities. Encourage them to show their talents through active participation in school or classroom program.
No matter how difficult your job is always be pessimistic. Think positive and consider your job worthwhile. Whatever you do is the reflection of your personality. Be pleasant with your principal ,pupils, parents and co-teachers.
Attend seminars and read managerial books. If possible attend graduate classes. This will improve or enhance your knowledge about classroom management and be updated with the present managerial skills.
In everything you do ask the guidance of the Lord. He will help you to accomplish your task. Do not forget to praise HIM for all the blessings given to you and to your class.
It is hard to evaluate yourself. If somebody tells your mistakes in a nice way open your arms . Find ways to correct or improve it to grow professionally.
