Classroom management plays a critical role in the teaching and learning process. Effective teaching and learning took place in a well-managed classroom. And routines are the groundwork for a well orchestrated classroom.

Routines have to be learned. We get used on doing in order for them to become a routine. It is, therefore, important than we identify and explain specific rules and regulations in our classroom, When? The first day of our school is the most timely rehearsing the rules and regulations every now and then. It is good until they become routines. Strengthening correct procedures and re-teaching an incorrect act, one will be a great help.

The following routines can be great help:

• Beginning and ending of the class period

There will be a class program led by the selected pupils. Starting with prayer, greetings etc. and so on. Ending-is a short quote.

• Transitions

Teachers prepared himself and the classes for such eventualities. In which you take time to explain your expectations in dealing with interruptions.

• Use or distribution of materials

Teacher make clear rules or procedures on the distribution Of materials, storage of same materials, teachers desk, storage areas or even the use of the pencil and sharpener.

• Exercises / Activities

Rules and procedures were explained. Teacher use some effective signals, (ex. Hand signal 1-freeze,2-quiet,3-listen,4-go back to your sit).

The establishment of routines help maximize time for instructions. It is such a great help for the teachers and students as well.
