Are there kids who keep on bothering you at school? Are there mean kids at school that are hard to handle? We often call them bullies. Bullies are the people whose habit is to be cruel for others whom they think are weaker than them. But in this article, let’s call them the mean kids. Here are some things you can do to face these mean kids. These are also good tips to share with a friend who struggles with mean kids at school. Show your support on him.

First, walk away. Instead of fighting, ignore them and be the better person. If you keep ignoring them, then it’s a clear message for the mean kids that you don’t care. Eventually, they will stop because they did not get what they want, which is to see you mad, sad or hurt. Ignoring them is also showing them that you are strong.

Second, learn to handle your anger. Bullies want to see you upset. Don’t show them that they controlled over your emotions. If you have to deal with the mean kids, go back to the first step, just walk away. Don’t get physical. Never think of being aggressive. Mean kids use harsh words to trap you. Don’t fall for it.

Third, discover and show your talents. This will help you develop self-efficacy and self-confidence. Feel good about yourself. The mean kids see you weak. But if you showcase your talents at school or at class, it might cause them to back off.

Fourth, be responsible to your own self. In our life, we cannot control other people on how they treat you or how they think of you. But, be true to yourself. Like what is mentioned on the previous step, discover your talents. Help yourself to discover your strengths. Join clubs that will help you discover and develop your skills. This will also help you to divert your attention from the mean kids.

Fifth, find someone to talk to. It’s a bad idea to keep it all along with yourself. You may find someone to tell stories about what happened on school. You may talk to a guidance counsellor, teacher or a friend.

Lastly, find true friends. Don’t isolate yourself. There are a lot of kids at school. Not all of them are like the mean kids. You may find one or two friends that may accompany you and see the real you.
