Nowadays that we are experiencing the effect of the modern technology that our students are exposed to different gadgets that makes them busy all the time and the same time enjoying their free time to the fullest, teachers on the other hand experienced the same thing. If there are teachers who are left behind by these gadgets and didn’t want to update themselves with the present trends I could say that they are still traditional teachers who do not want to keep abreast with the modern times. There is nothing bad staying in the old tradition but we cannot anymore relate to our students and other co- teachers who are engaging in the used of different multi- media to update themselves with the present trends in teaching.
THE FOLLOWING ARE SIMPLE TIPS TO UPDATE YOURSELF IN THE DEMANDS OF MODERN TIMES.
1. Watch different television programs where you can get knowledge of the present discoveries and inventions like the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, HISTORY CHANNELL, DISCOVERY , TLC, WORLD NEWS, etc. These channels can update you with new knowledge and latest information and happenings around the world.
2. Learn to use different computer programs, nowadays even children starting three years old are trained to use computers, net book, cell phone, etc. Learning to use computer programs is an advantage because you can surf the internet system accessing the twitter, facebook, google etc. where you can browse for the latest knowledge and informations you want to know.
3. Attending trainings and seminars, do not be negative if you are asked to attend seminars because these can update your knowledge with the present strategies and technologies in teaching. This is also your way to have certificates needed to qualify for promotions.
4. Continue acquiring knowledge by enrolling in masteral or doctoral degree since education is one of the requirement for promotions. As the saying goes little learning is dangerous, it is much better to continue studying to increase your knowledge than to be contented with the little knowledge that you already have.
5. Make reading as your habit or past time. We learn many things by reading, if you do not have access to internet just read newspaper, magazines, biographies, novels. Reading increase our vocabularies and improve our comprehension, it can change our perception being enlightened or influenced by the different ideas that we have understood and learned.
