Education can never do away with computers. People acquire much learning just by simply surfing the net. Information and Communications Technology ( ICT ) contributes a lot to make life easier and enjoyable. Students become more participative learners if teachers utilize computers and other multi-media technologies in their class. The use of different gadgets motivated the students and even performed better. It aided in understanding the lesson presented by the teacher. Furthermore, getting engaged with the real thing excites them and was able to familiarize themselves with what they see in television and print ads.
Today’s learning require not only on the acquisition of declarative knowledge, not only the visualization or imagination but also on the actualization and realization of it. Students have to see, touch and apply what they have learned in real life situation. Experiential activities are needed and that make the students core of the teaching-learning situation.
ICT is just finger tips away from the computer illiterate, from the traditional people who are afraid to even touch the keyboard. It takes guts and the willingness to explore the magical world of computer. Just by walking your finger tips on the keyboard, one can discover a lot, learn a lot and even meet new acquaintances. Students, teachers, educators and maybe people from all walks of life were always ready to know and try the latest trends in ICT. Truly, this invention can be counted as one of the most essential, though there were disadvantages, but still we benefit a lot from its advantages. Computer has a lot to offer if only netizens and computer users will use it wisely and intelligently. As the popular line says, “Think before you click.”
Getting further, what wonders does computer give mankind? Can we ever imagine that people could communicate as fast we do it now than before, today, as if no one is in the other end of the world, that our loved ones are abroad, that most individual can get in touch with one another even simultaneously. We can talk and see each other right there and then anywhere we are. Gone are the times when snail mail and long distance calls bother the people. Through computers most activities of the people can be done quickly.
So think twice if until this time, you still don’t have the courage to deal with computers. Its not about the age, the gender or our status in life… its about getting to know what can make our studies, our daily life, our work easier and accessible to the computer generation .
