The Department of Education in the Philippines is not only concerned with the knowledge and skills of the child but also with his/her health as well.

In order to have the readiness and willingness to learn, the physical energy and power of the learners must be made stable and prepared in order for him/her grasp the knowledge and skills completely.

A healthy body can create a healthy mind and this will assure learning among the pupils.  The nourishment of the child is very essential since health affects the way he/she thinks and performs in school.

One very heroic and very admirable program of DepEd is the school-based feeding program.  This is a great opportunity for the school personnel to help the undernourished children improve their health by means of offering them nutritious meals during their stay in the school.

The severely wasted pupils are being given kind attention in terms of feeding for them to gain the required weight and height appropriate to their age levels.

The school canteen is one of the sources of feeding.  Also, the Department of Education greatly gives financial assistance to this worthwhile program.  Luckily, even the stakeholders, LGU’s, NGO’s and other organizations are giving their generous hands in the realization of this program.

The improvement of the nutritional status of every student will be clearly attained with the implementation of the school feeding program.

As the saying goes, “Health is wealth”. That is why teachers have a vital role to lead the child achieve good health condition.

                Our educational clientele are the future of our nation and it is only right that we protect them mentally and of course physically.

                The 120 feeding days in every school is a great undertaking since it assures the good health of every child.

            Moreover, the Department of Education also requires the school to offer only nutritious and foods in the school canteen and requested not to sell junk foods and other beverages that are detrimental to one’s health.

            The proper health in education,  child will not only feel cared but also loved.
