Authorities say that the most important aspect in teaching is relationship.  Some may disagree because they might say that discipline, curriculum, strategies, content and teaching-learning styles count most.  But if we analyze school life deeper, one will realize that if there is a harmonious relationship between teacher and student, the rest will go smoothly. 

The most precious resource in the school is the teachers and students that affect the school environment.  In fact, the progress and the good name of the school lie primarily on its population.  There is strife when teacher-student relationship is not smooth flowing.  There is unhappiness when this aspect is not given importance.

            As a teacher, we know that our goal is not entirely on monetary gains, although this is the primary reason why people work.  However, we must remember that we have the noble mission of touching the lives of the youth, since when it comes to assessing the success of a man, the best measure is what becomes of him because of his/her work.

            Teachers and other employees should realize the importance of human relationship—that is effective interaction with people like your immediate supervisor, school head or principal, co-teachers and students.  Teachers must develop an understanding of oneself and other individuals.

            Every day in a teacher’s life, he/she makes decision.  Teachers must be guided by these relationships with people around him/her because they are the people in their world.

            In any organization, the school for instance, problems arise when people are taken for granted.  This just shows the value of wholesome human relationship.

            In the school environment, simply rememberthat every other student needs care, love, acceptance, approval and appreciation.

            So teachers, what can you do to foster strong and healthy teacher-student relationship.  Do you build bridges between you and the students to connect with them ?  Or you build walls to make students go away from you.
