To improve the quality of education, the students, the teachers, the school, and the community must be considered very well, meticulously and systematically.
A. On the part of the student, they should be engaged in project-based learning, be connected with integrated studies, be shared with cooperative learning and be expanded through comprehensive assessment.
In project-based learning, the students will go beyond the textbooks to study c instead they will analyze the topics using a variety of sources and will present their outputs not only to teachers but also to the parents and community groups.
They should also learn to connect a subject to other disciplines and explore their relationships.
In cooperative learning, the students will be working together on projects and be guided by trained teachers. Here, they will learn the skills of collaborating, managing emotions and resolving conflicts within the group. Cooperative learning further develops social and emotional skills for a valuable foundation for their lives.
In expanding through comprehensive assessment, the evaluation should be expanded from simple test to a continuous profile of student strengths and weaknesses. The teachers, parents and students must monitor academic progress and use assessment to focus on the areas that need improvement.
B. On the side of the teacher, he/she should coach intellectual and emotional guide and have learned teaching as apprenticeship.
The most significant role of a teacher is to coach and guide the students through the learning process, nurturing student’s interest and self-confidence. Teachers nowadays are much expected to spend less time in lecturing and more time in coaching students in the areas that they need much help or assistance.
Teachers most especially the new ones must learn from the experienced teachers. In doing this, they will be able to apply the most effective ways in teaching.
C. On the part of the school, it should adopt technology and reorganize its resources.
The intelligent and proper utilization of technology can transform and improve every aspect of the school. It is modernizing the nature of curriculum, student activities and parental connection or involvement.
Also the school must consider the resources of time, money and facilities to be restructured in accordance to the needs the educational clientele and to the demands of time. School constructions must emphasize support to students and teachers who are collaborating in teams.
D. On the part of the community, there should be the participation of parents and must encourage community partners.
The community plays a vital role in in the improvement of the school. Brilliant suggestions and ideas will be flourishing to continuously upgrade the school system.
The students, the teachers, the school and the community must work hand in hand for a much better educational institution and for better quality of education.
