The coronavirus pandemic has revealed the fragility of education. It has a profound impact on teaching wherein the instructions need to be quickly shifted to remote teaching. With this, an inquiry-based learning is considered in its most comprehensive form. Accordingly, inquiry-based instruction is a student-centered approach wherein all learners can be guided to make their own designed method, and data interpretation. Through asking questions, learners’ investigation will possibly get good answers and would discover proper information.
According to some researchers, once the students solve their own problems, they could internalize conceptual processes. Learners can now easily determine which pieces of information are useful for them and how this information applies to their real world. The curiosity of the students to discover the main topic of the lesson would be the gateway to enhance and develop their critical thinking skills.
Teachers who are using inquiry-based instructions can utilize essential components to empower students in creating solutions. A topic or concept of the lesson can be introduced through orientation or observation. With this, they will have a chance to explore at the subject matter by doing hands-on activities and research. The development and conceptualization of the questions that are related to the topic by predicting the expected output would be made by the learners. Hence, it is essential that students are always guided by the teachers to find evidence through a discussion and collaborative works.
