Integrating computers and internet in teaching about plants, animals, agricultural chemicals, technology and other aspects of horticulture is gaining wide concern to both researches and teachers in different settings.
Using ICT in an Agriculture classroom nowadays represents a sign of progress in education. Teachers should move on from the previous traditional classroom lecture to actual outside the classroom gardening, to give chance to our students to interact with technology in lessons on plants, animals, horticulture chemicals and latest technologies.
It is the duty of the teachers to make the lesson clear through the use and benefits of technology; however, he/she must be aware of the different constraints. Teachers must therefore ask themselves of the following:
- Does the use of technology facilitate comprehension of the lesson of hand?
- Will it entail fewer expenses? Does the technology used outweigh the cost incurred?
- Do teachers have the chance to improve their performance?
- Do students have the chance to increase their achievement?
- Does it help student to become interactive / participative?
Computer-based teaching may help the students of agriculture, the latest innovation in planting.
Using the technology in teaching Agriculture may often new learning experiences and environment that may open more doors about agriculture. This will also serve as a chance to students to apply technology in learning about plants and animals that may be useful both inside and outside the classroom.
