Today’s teachers are now dealing with the “techy generation.” The younger generation is more computer literate than parents and even teachers.  This fact cannot be ignored but rather develop that instinct to keep in step with the times and be one with this generation.

One way of winning the attention of today’s pupils is to employ computers in the educational system.  Since most of the pupils have knowledge in the use of computers, there is a need to strengthen the computer subject in our curriculum.  A particular area which can be given more attention in the curriculum is the use of the internet.  With a large percentage of our pupils having access to the internet, its advantages and perils should be discussed in computer classes.

Internet safety and security can be integrated in the computer subject.  Cyberspace awareness is crucial in the total development of the pupils.  Informing the pupils of the do’s and don’t’s in net use and behavior in the social media will keep them out of danger.
