Teaching is being considered as a very challenging and fruitful job. Though there are difficulties being encountered along the way but it is truly satisfying and rewarding.
The acceptable reasons why teachers stay in the profession are the following:
Experience the joy of making a big difference. Teachers really find happiness whenever they share their knowledge, talents, skills, wisdom and insights to the learners. It is really rewarding and fruitful on their part if they make the students learn and become productive. Also, it is precisely fulfilling if they see the child sprout and grow, spread their wings and soar high because of the things instilled in their minds and hearts. Truly, you make a difference in them.
Perform a vocation, not only a profession. The primary goal of a teacher is to render services to the learners. Being a public servant, a teacher feels joy in his/her heart whenever he/she teaches the child and sharing with them all the best things they owe to learn. The teacher finds total happiness if he/she was able to maximize the child’s talent, creativity, skills and talents.
Enjoy interpersonal interaction. Seeing beautiful and pleasant people and faces every minute of the day is really a fascinating experience on the part of the teacher. Being able to talk with them and hear their interesting ideas and stories are pleasing to the ears of the teacher. Being able to interact with them during class hours and beyond is truly zestful or enjoyable because you hear their colorful lives.
Benefit from variety. Though the teaching profession is filled with tasks, these various responsibilities are beneficial on the part of the teacher. These will test the teacher’s efficiency, effectiveness and resiliency. Furthermore, a teacher will find joy since these will develop him/her professionally.
Be a lifelong learner. They say that if you are a teacher, you are continuously studying. Well, it is better. You are constantly accumulating or acquiring knowledge which are very essential to you and to your learners. Obviously, you are a lifelong learner and not stopping to gain more significant things in life and in your profession as a teacher.
Laugh every day. It is said that laughter is the best medicine. It is also the way to make the teacher stay young in appearance and in spirit. Teachers who really love teaching may find joy and laughter in his/her her every undertaking. The laughter being experienced every day will bring joy to a teacher’s heart.
Have high level of autonomy. The teacher is the educational manager in the classroom. He/she can use his/her maximum potentials to manage the class very well. He/she has the authority to shape the mind and character of the learner. Absolutely, this will yield joy in his/her heart since there is a freedom to be dynamic and creative.
These are the reasons behind the teacher’s joy or happiness in the teaching profession.
