The enhance K-12 program, has many now know, will have kinder garden, 6 years of elementary education, four years of junior highschool (grade 7 to 10)

and two years of senior high school.

According to the 2010 department of education briefing report, the last two years (grades 11 and 12)

will provide time for the students to consolidate acquired academic skills and competencies.

the rationale for the two years is to decongest and enhance the basic education curicullar,

provide quality and be a part with other countries in Asia which provide more years  for basic education.

Now, lot of students and specially parents were alarmed. Some argue that this program will

serve as an extra expense for them and some looking at it as an advantage for brighter future.

The reality is that this program provides a good apportunity to match the academic levels of

other countries. This quality of education  responds to the inadequate preparation of

high school graduates for the world of work or higher education. Therefore parents should be properly

informed about the advantage of the K-12 program,

Moreover, with the implementation of the K-12 program, it is best hoped that Filipino

students would be more literate, skilled and competitive  to be able to find jobs more easily

and contribute to the country’s  pride as well as the country’s economy.
