An effective, well rounded K to 12 education is a key to the future success not only of our children but our nation as well.

            K to 12 education is effective when students learn the necessary skills and knowledge at every level and each level prepares and makes them confident to move up to the next. It is effective when the students see the connection between what they learn in school and in their everyday life. The students should be able to use the knowledge and skills they learn to solve everyday problems.

            A well rounded education provides our children an opportunity to grow and develop not only intellectually but also physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. It should provide the students experiences to think, to choose, to decide, to weigh and to consider options and to make better choices according to their interests and skills.

            Effective, well rounded K to 12 education prepares the graduates to either enter the workplace or pursue a college degree or both, with sufficient knowledge and skills which make them competent.

            K to 12 education prepares the students ready for employment or even entrepreneurship. It also prepares them to middle level skills development and even to pursue college education.

            Since the Senior High School students can specialize in a field they are good and interested in, upon graduation, they have the specific job-related skills they need and at age 18 they are ready and competent for employment. Also, they will be automatically recognized as professional even abroad because the international education standard is followed under the K to 12 education.

            A good example is I have brothers and sister with their families living abroad. Their children, after finishing grade 12 get employment and pursue college education by themselves and even working while studying, most of them graduated with honors. I can say that K to 12 education is effective the way I see it in the lives of my nieces and nephews.

            With this, I should end and say it again-an effective, well rounded K to 12 education is a key to the future success not only of our children but our nation as well.
