K to 12 Program is such a great program of the government.  Obviously, it is much anticipated that a K to 12 teacher possesses the qualities that may best fit such worthwhile program.

Teachers of the present curriculum may consider traits and attitudes which will help them become more efficient at the same time be more effective under the said new curriculum being implemented, to wit:

Be well-equipped with K to 12 tools. It is really a mere fact that a teacher must have the necessary preparations prior to the day of teaching.  But to create a different much better scenario, innovative lesson plans, interactive instructional devices and fascinating learning areas must be set up ahead of time. Have these tools be aligned with the principles and standards of the new curriculum. Remember, K to 12 Program is after for the holistic development of the child which will be his instrument for life.

Be truly optimistic.  Though changes occurred due to K to 12 Program but we have to think positively that these changes are for good and even for the best.  There may be times that we are adjusting in the way we execute our lessons, we have to remember that this will bring benefit to us and to our leaners.  Be optimistic that this curriculum is already time-tested and led a lot of nations to progress.

Set attainable expectations.  Always aim for excellence in everything you do.  Teachers under the K to 12 Program are expected to be more dynamic and interactive.  They must show the best abilities and talents that they have.  On the other side, they must also set attainable goals for their students.  They must instill in the learners’ minds and hearts that they should not be contented in being mediocre.  They must always aim for the best things as long as these are attainable.

Be passionately creative.  As a K to 12 teacher, you must be fond of doing things creatively or artistically. Remember, a teacher who is creative yields creative students. Absolutely right!  In the teaching-learning process always make the activities artistically attractive and pleasing to the learners.

Be absolutely fair.  Always think that education is for all, most especially in dealing with the learners.  Endow them with knowledge and skills that they deserve.  Treat them all equally with no prejudices.  Consider them as your own children.

Have affectionate personal touch. As a teacher, you have to remember that it is better if we completely see all the things being done in school with our personal touch and supervision.  We always have to look at everything that transpires from our learners in their activities or undertakings in school, thinking of their benefit and welfare.  We should be the guiding stars of our dear students, leading them all the way.

Develop genuine sense of belongingness.  As an educator, you must also encourage your educational clientele to be in one with the group. You must let your learners realize that they belong to the school community, in one family, a group which cares for them.  Have them develop sense of belongingness by being a part of the group we call the school.

Be earnestly compassionate.  As a teacher of the K to 12 Program, we always have to show genuine love, care and understanding to our pupils.  Remember, we also have to develop their emotional aspect.  In doing so, we have to care for what they feel since it will have an effect to their totality as a person.  Just always think that compassion begets compassion.

Be magnanimously forgiving.  We know for a fact that we are dealing with the generation that is too different from ours.  These young children may be susceptible to make minor mistakes. That is why as a teacher, you have to broaden your patience and understanding.

Go for extreme holistic excellence. K to 12 Program is truly aiming to develop the child not in just being a student but to train him/her to be a very productive citizen of the country.  Moreover, the teacher must exert his/her full prowess in order to develop, enhance and empower the students holistically in order to be a dynamic citizen of our country.

These are the traits, qualities and attitudes that a teacher may consider which may be in line with the K to 12 Program advocacies.Be well-guided. Be a K to 12 teacher!
