Effective Management do not just happen. They are product of good leadership exercise by a good manager or leader. Management plays a key role in creating or directing the activities of other people and so here the five important tenets of leadership for us to use our own leadership practices to create a perfect environment over our subordinate.
Modelling the Way. The leadership practice of Modelling the Way established principles and values concerning the way people should be treated and the way goals are pursued. Leader must lead through set of principles, values and beliefs. They must consistently based their decision on an appropriate core set of values and beliefs.
Inspiring a Shared Vision. If you don’t know where you are going, you will never get there. For a leader to be successful, they must have a vision of what they want in the organization to accomplish. A vision is a compelling picture of the future that inspires commitment, and provides purpose, meaning and significance to work. It provides guidance and direction.
Enables other to Act. Leader to foster collaboration, build spirited teams and actively involve everyone. Mutual respect and strives to create an atmosphere of trust and dignify. Making each person feel capable and more powerful, understand that their subordinate has to have the freedom to grow and achieve their full potential.
Challenging the Process. This is essential for a leader, seeking to improve the status of the organization to become successful change agents. They must have the passions, conviction and confidence in others. The passion and conviction they bring to the job will help them to find the importance of embracing change. It is essential the leaders builds coalitions within his leadership to offset such resistance and effectively implement important decisions.
Encouraging the Heart. Leaders use the leadership practice of encouraging the heart to show appreciation for their subordinates. Subordinates become frustrated and discouraged during difficult times, and the subordinate must periodically lift their spirits through genuine acts of kindness. Successful leaders create a culture where each subordinate or staff member believes their accomplishments will be noted, appreciated and celebrated. Writing notes of thanks, recognize contribution privately and publicly and acknowledge individual effort is a good advice too.
