It is said that leadership skills help kids feel more self-aware and confident. When parents and teachers encourage children to develop leadership skills, they lend ways to guarantee them a bright future.
Children gain more self-esteem through leadership. They interact more easily and effective with their peers because of it. More so, they can also make an impact in the school and in their community.
Children may develop their leadership skills at any age. These qualities will continue to develop and evolve as children grow up. Supporting and nourishing qualities children is one of the best opportunities that a parent or an educator can provide.
As teachers, we should encourage children express themselves. When they are able to clearly and confidently vocalize their thought, opinions and ideals, they feel more self-assured and able to deal with tasks and problems. You can help by encouraging children to speak out and by listening seriously to what they have to say.
As parents, teach by example. Children observe adults in their lives, and internalize the behavior and values they see. Even if they don’t express it aloud, children may be looking to you as a role model.
Leadership doesn’t end at home or in school. It should also be developed throughout the community. Find volunteer and community service opportunities and encourage participation. Firsthand experience is one of the best ways to teach leadership skills to kids. Children may join BrigadaEskwela Campaign against Dengue, Clean and Green and the like.
Every child has potential for leadership skills, but not every child develops skills in the same way. What should we do is to pay attention to specific interest, passions and abilities and to nurture children’s individual talents as well.
