Social studies brings out the lessons of the past. Through studying it, we will be able to see the remnants of the past generation and these bring lessons which will be advantageous to the present citizens of the country.

Through our study of history, we will be able to pick up the pieces which are contributory in the extracting the lessons of the past. The following are the lessons of the past that we get from history and in social studies.

1. Love your country.  From history we learned that we have to love our country.  The passion of loving the country is evident in our history. We can see the heroes of the past risked their lives just for the sake of the country.
2. Learn to build true friendship. The friendship was obvious among the heroes of the past.  You can see that the people of our history were able to save the nation from tyrant leaders because of friendship.
3. Care for your fellowmen. We also learned from social studies that we have to care for your fellowmen.  Caring for others is such a meaningful endeavour.
4. Stand for the truth.  Social studies makes ourselves to stand for the truth. The students should stand for the truth be able to win the battle for freedom and democracy.
5. Be courageous.  Social studies particularly the study of history inspires us to be courageous enough to fight for our national identity.  As motivated by the deeds of our heroes, we learned to fight for our rights.

1. Be realistic. Social studies emphasizes that everyone should face reality most especially in working for the nation’s development and progress`

1. Be optimistic. The lessons of social studies makes us feel that we have to be positive in life and face the world with a smile.
