Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro FSC stated in a meeting with 4,000 education stakeholders that no Mindanaoan will be left behind as Mindanao progress is necessary for the Philippines to prosper. He further explained that the K to 12 curriculum is important not only because it is the biggest educational reform in the country but also because the reform was developed with hopes and issues that people in Mindanao face. He challenged the educators and its stakeholders who attended the meeting to make a difference that will reshape the tale of Mindanao.
Allan Rellon, Tagum City’s Mayor, expressed his local government’s support in the effective implementation of the K to 12. He believes that if the program becomes successful, then all the Filipinos are also successful.
Education stakeholders know that their commitment is to invest for the future. Education does not mean expense. It is an investment. In the future, they can reap the fruits of their labor and sacrifices and see the progress of the country.
Some students in Mindanao shared their gratefulness to have attended the early implementation of the program as it greatly changed their direction. They were glad to have attended the technical track as it is a big help in searching for job. One student from an indigenous group in Bukidnon claimed that K to 12 recognizes cultural knowledge and the program has a way of helping the Indigenous People do their best to improve in school.
One mother expressed gratitude of his son’s success in finding a job after finishing the K to 12 program. His son landed a job as encoder because of the training that he had in his Senior High School. She believes that K to 12 is a big help to the least fortunate families.
With all the successes of most of the Senior High School graduates, it is hoped that a brighter future awaits the Mindanaoans as the Philippines boosts its capacity to the full implementation and success of the K to 12 Basic Education Program.
