Our learners face different struggles in life.   There are different factors that might affect their education: vices, peer pressure, and family problems to name a few.  And these hindrances make a big impact on their learning process.

In a point of view of an adviser, we always try to find ways to alleviate these uncertainties and try to resolve these issues.  We always ask ourselves, why does this particular student cuthis/her classes?  Why is this learner troublesome? Questions we always try to find answers.

Being an adviser is not an easy task, to the extent that administrators will ask you what happened if a student fails his/her class?  What did we do on certain learners who dropped their class and chose not to go to school anymore?  Did we fail?  What shall we do?

In my recent years, I have found out that making our classroom a homeroom makes a very big difference.  Setting the classroom to feel like it was your home makes students feel more comfortable and choose not to go elsewhere.

Ownership and sense of belongingness is the key.  When a learner feel the he belongs to the room and he owns it, they feel the urge of staying rather than cutting classes.  Putting up audio visual appliances makes them feel important and blessed.  Letting them use the facilities responsibly makes them feel independent and responsible.

With all these remarkable spirits, learners become excited to go to school because they feel that they are going to their second home. They are more motivated to study.

Our ways are endless, we, as a teacher and adviser, can think of enormous ways on how to make the teaching-learning process a creative and enjoyable experience.
