Human resources are the most important assets of an organization. An office or agency cannot run smoothly or be successful without effectively managing this resource. The heart and core of every company’s validation of work force depends largely on the Human Resource Management” that is managing people and maximize their potential congruent in the existing policies and systems of an organization. In my years of service to Dep Ed and assigned to this department the task of being an HR personnel entails a lot of work and times looking into details of the qualified applicants to maximize the productivity of the department by optimizing the effectiveness of its employees, alignment of these teachers into the mandate of Dep Ed by its Guidelines, Rules and Policies. My common workload includes the following:

First, announcement of vacancies and receipt of applications; second, verification and validation of documents submitted; third, evaluation and interview of qualified applicants; fourth, appointment of qualified applicants; fifth, monitoring of division office compliance with hiring guidelines by the regional office.

Most of the time, I am overwhelmed of so many queries from our teachers once we posted the pool of qualified applicants, as an HR Officer, I am very much aware that I need to equip myself and learn by heart all the Dep Ed issuances, memorandas pertaining to teacher’s hiring, welfare and benefits so as not to misled our teachers. They are dependent on us on issues regarding their compensation and benefits.

Managing people is not just simply talking to them but more of leading them to the processes and procedures, guiding them on what to prepare and accomplish. To manage teachers effectively, I have to grow professionally in terms of the knowledge, skills and competencies to fulfill my job, that is why I am grateful nowadays that seminars, symposium and forums were given to us and that gives us opportunity to learn and level up to what is needed for this changing times. Valuable information relating to my job is beneficial in service to the teachers and in the department.
