It is a fact that as a teacher serving a public institution, you cannot complain about the poor facilities of your respective school and assigned advisory room. However, you can make something to make your classroom atmosphere more comfortable.
One way to improve the physical appearance of the classroom is putting a decoration like having a tarpaulin with famous and noteworthy line from well- renowned people. You can also add curtain at every window to minimize the effect of the sunlight and add color to the classroom as well. A teacher can also have a bulletin board, wall displays and display boards to make the classroom appearance more pleasing to the eye.
Another means to make the classroom more presentable to is students’ chairs, teacher’s table and the seating arrangement as a whole. Students’ chair should be free from any damage that could harm the students. Teacher’s table should be free from any clutter that could steal student’s attention. And seating arrangement should be well- arranged for the students to move freely and comfortably.
Aside from the classroom appearance, the classroom temperature should also be considered in a favorable classroom set- up. It must not be too hot considering the fact that Philippines belongs to the tropical region. Consequently, there should be proper ventilation to customize the hot temperature.
Proper lighting should also be managed so that the classroom will have a flattering learning environment.
Though the above mentioned ways means money, it is worth the cost since the effect of these expenses will be used to enhance the students learning and will create favorable learning environment.
However, teacher should teach the student to be responsible in maintaining and cleaning their respective classroom. Hence, a teacher should assign daily or regular cleaners. This way, they will learn the value of cleanliness of their classroom and orderliness of their classroom and develop the values of responsibility and accountability.
