Mathematics is a subject feared by most of the students.  Because of their fear most of them failed the subject and had to feel the pressure over and over again.

This is a challenge to an adviser of a mathematics club.  How will she encourage students to participate in a club they hate the most and whom they believe is for gifted students only?  A club which is so boring since all you have to do is to compute and compute and compute.

But let us look at mathematics in a different perspective as to the type of students it will suit.

Problem Solving is the process of finding solutions to difficult or complex issues.  These mathematics category will be enjoyed by above average students in class.

Mathematical Investigation refers to the sustained exploration of a mathematical situation which is different from problem solving because it is open ended.  Creative students will explore possibilities on the given mathematical situation.

Talented students on the other hand may participate in mathematics jingle contests where they can showcase their singing, acting and dancing talents.

For students who are into sports, games like damath, Sudoku challenges and Rubik’s cube battle will caught their interests and find enjoyment in math too.

If students have multi intelligences, then mathematics for all trades can cater them all.
