Different kind of pollution is being taught in Science and Health and even in other subject areas.

What are the different kinds of pollution? Air, water and soil pollution. These are the poison that kill and destroy the environment, animals, plants and especially humans.

Have you heard of the most dangerous pollution that pollutes the mind of our children? It is moral pollution.

How did moral pollution poison the mind of the children?

It deteriorates the mind of our youth from the values of good human being to a mind of a delinquent individual. It gives no qualms in polluting their young minds.

We should all be aware of this kind of pollution. As teachers, we play the vital role in preventing this type of invisible toxins.

Now a day, children get exposed on wrong values from TV, radio, magazines, movie houses, music, internet, computer games, and even from the actions of the people surrounding them. They get inclined in watching violent and immoral movies even reading magazines showing sex or violence, TV programs which show gambling, sex and too much fighting like martial arts, boxing and wrestling. They get even used on playing violent internet games. They learn to imitate these violent actions and acquired wrong values.

Teachers and parents must join force in guiding and protecting our children from this kind of pollution. Choosing wholesome and appropriate TV programs and movies to watch,

music to listen, magazines and books to  read, and games to play which are good for their young mind greatly help in building their morals.

If we can prevent this kind of pollution our country is assured of having productive, responsible and God-fearing citizens.

With this, Dr. Jose Rizal’s dream for our youth to be the hope of our nation is possible.
