In the field of education school administrators and school supervisors….to be specific education supervisors are somewhat confused in how to bring out the best in their teachers.
The questions commonly asked by education supervisors especially the new ones are, How do we encourage our teachers to teach better and be more creative with respect to a particular learning area? How can we stimulate our teachers to be more productive in every subject they teach.
It is an established principle that education supervisors are given subject assignment of their expertise. How to motivate principals and in the long run the teachers to excel in the subject area is the role of every education supervisor.
In supervising a teacher, the teacher becomes more inspired and active if the supervisor or the principal recognizes and applauds the teacher’s good work. In short, teachers become more inspired if they are personally motivated be it by the principal or the education supervisor.
Hence, the principal and the education supervisor should know the importance of motivation. Motivation means a lot for the teacher’s productivity in the school. Indeed, it is motivation that enables a teacher to carry out some activities with best result.
As a leader-motivator, the school administrator, principal and supervisor should design a system that will continuously reinforce the enthusiasm of a teacher to teach better. In doing this, the school administrator, principal or supervisor should give the teacher a touch of love and a heart to understand and face with a smile.
Indeed, motivating the teachers must be a top priority of any school supervisor.
Coupled with motivation is planning. Planning in education is considered both a challenge and opportunity. It is a challenge because it is always expected that in planning, practical and realistic solutions have to be sought for the complex problems that may arise. In this regard, a good and effective supervisor must also be a good planner aside from a good motivator.
Truly, a good planner must have a foresight of whatever problems may entail each target and must have a ready set of alternatives for their solutions.
Remember motivation and planning are golden opportunities for teachers that must be projected either by the principal or the supervisor. Both will give a fair chance for the teachers to improve teaching.
