Last December 17, 2018, Filipinos celebrate another victory as we won the title of Miss Universe for the 4th time with great honor that Filipina beauty is always in the line of runner-ups if not given the title of Miss Universe. Experts say that it is beauty mixed with blood of different races and intelligence that make every Filipina stand out in every pageant. Not only Filipinos have rich history but everything in the Philippines is a great experience for learning, for motivation and for inspiring the world that makes a Filipina equipped during the pageant. Above all these, the title is symbolized by a crown, symbol of victory, unique for each Ms. Universe every year.

If Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018, has duties and responsibilities indicated by her title, we, Filipinos, have duties and responsibilities that we can get from one of her lines quoted during the pageant that can serve as one of our legacy to the next generation. Quoted by Catriona Gray “Working in some poorest areas of my country, I found that it was lack of child support not poverty that killed their dreams. A child once told me, ‘Cat, it’s just not my life and those dreams are not for me’ but I stand here today because someone believed in me and we owe it to our children to believe in them”. Somebody may ask why lack of child support and not poverty that kills the child’s dream and the closest answer is there are people who are not rich or there are people who are financial incapable but some doctors, lawyers, teachers of this country come from those kind of families yet they succeeded in life while others are able to pursue their dreams because somebody or someone or a close friend or the family believes in them. The explanation to this chain reaction is what Gandhi had once said “Your beliefs become your thoughts,  Your thoughts become your words,  Your words become your actions,  Your actions become your habits,  Your habits become your values,  Your values become your destiny.” The context can be put to the situation of a teacher and a student in which what we believe about them or what they are going to be like will definitely result to what we believe because definitely that belief will manifest into words or action that will make an impact on the student until the student will feed this belief in his thoughts until his thoughts will become his reality. The mind becomes the bridge to the heart that’s why people do what he once think about.

Therefore, as teachers it is our duty to see and develop the possible potential of our students in different aspects. Some students are logical, others are verbal, others are artistic, others are skilled in some things but the greatest impact we can have on them is to believe on their potential that may lead to their destiny. We can help shaping their future. Moreover, we, humans, are not forgetful of actions that inspire us meaning on that way the cycle continuous until these students will believe to possible potential of others. That will be the nation’s crown of victory to be the land of hopes and dreams.
