The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the postponement of the administration of the 2015-2016 National Achievement Test (NAT) for Grade 6 students scheduled on March 8 and 10, respectively.
Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction Dina Ocampo said that NAT for Grade 6 has been postponed due to operational and administrative limitations.
However, Ocampo noted that the NAT for Grade 6 shall be administered on June 17, 2016 to all Grade 7 students in all public and private secondary schools nationwide.
The NAT shall be administered by the Bureau of Educational Assessment (BEA) formerly known as the National Educational Testing and Research Center (NETRC).
On the other hand, DepEd Sec. Armin Luistro also announced that there will be an additional NAT for Grade 10 (NAT G10) to be administered on June 23, 2016 to select learners in select public and private secondary schools nationwide.
According to NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL TESTING AND RESEARCH CENTER-DepEd Philippines, NAT examinations aim to: (1.) Provide empirical information on the achievement level of pupils/students in Grades Six, Ten, and Twelve to serve as guide for policy makers, administrators, curriculum planners, supervisors, principals and teachers in their respective courses of action. (2) Identify and analyze variations on achievement levels across the years by region, division, school and other variables. (3) Determine the rate of improvement in basic education with respect to individual schools within certain time frames.
