The development of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) to ensure that learning opportunities are provided to our learners in a safe manner is an appropriate step and necessary to have quality education. However, aiding the learning process cannot be stood alone so, the supervision of responsible adults and continuous monitoring and guidance of educators are needed.
The idea of having distance learning which is now a major component of learning delivery is commendable. It is indeed imperative that all learners must be given opportunities to attain quality education even amidst COVID-19 pandemic for a guarantee that no child will be left behind.
Even though the students cannot go to campus to study in a regular way during the COVID-19 period, different types of tools and platforms can be used in an integrated way to support learning and teaching from home. Furthermore, learners and communities are empowered to create positive learning environments in which the students can grow with their learning.
It is crucial that learners experience the usefulness of distance learning environments which support them to reach their full potential. Addressing their wellbeing needs, providing curricula, and learning outcomes appropriate for current and predicted future skills requirements are important so that students are fully prepared for the challenges and opportunities that they will encounter in the future.
