Computers are everywhere, in school, outside the school, at home and in public places. Only few students do not own a laptop, tablet or a cellphone. Internet is accessible through these gadgets, from social networking sites, photo editing and sharing, and even games, online or offline.

Kids are playful. They have more fun playing than studying. These games can be downloaded free or paid via internet. It can be played on desktop computers, tablets, laptops and even on cellphones. Have you ever heard of DOTA? If you’re a teacher you probably hear this everyday from your students. It is for fun they say, sometimes for gambling and most of the time, the reason for troubles.   Some of the students do not attend their classes just to play this game with friends. Their parents know that they are in school, studying, being taken care of. These students have low grades, and performances. Can the teachers defeat online games?

Two reasons why students prefer online gaming than studying are Laziness and Boredom. When you asked them why they rather play than study, they would say “it’s too boring” and “nakakatamad”. Their teachers might not be giving them enough reason to study. Why not give them excitement during classes? Give them tasks individually or by group. Motivate the students to excel more in studies than in online games. They can also connect online games with their lessons to make it more exciting to those who need more attention. We can’t stop technology from its progress. We need to find a way to steal their attentions from gaming, or if not, use it as a tool for them to enjoy studying that they will choose it more than games. We have that one saying that if you cannot beat them, join them.  You can substitute any variables in learning into gaming without losing the real meaning of the words.

In the end, students are still kids who  enjoy playing. Teachers, their parents in school will Help them realize that studying is more important for their futures.
