The Open Dumpsite located in Mamala, Brgy. St. Francis De Asis I Limay, Bataan was closed last September 2015 by the Department of Interior and Local Government because it was an illegal waste disposal and prohibited by the law.

Several meetings and researches were conducted in different barangays by Municipal representatives especially the MENRO, Jesus V. De Luna; Planning Officer, Engr. Danilo D. Quinto, Municipal Engineer, Romario c. Panangui and the General Services Officer-OIC Gerardo M. Roa together with the Local Chief Executive Mayor Lilvir V. Roque.

On October 1, 2015 the Local Chief Executive declared to start the implementation of Solid Waste Management Program that was disseminated in different Barangays.  Each Barangay will be in-charge in their area to have a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Area to identify/segregate different wastes be collected for non-biodegradable wastes and an open pit for biodegradable wastes

It was a short notice for the constituents to adjust with the said transition in garbage collection. Many complaints were heard through phone calls and personal complaints but still the administration took the time in finding ways to let the people adjust in the said changes to lessen the volume of garbage. The people were pacified by the government that in every corner of the streets, garbage were collected by the garbage trucks.  Even the Barangay Chairman admitted that it was very hard for them to inform the people to follow that order and how to explain to them the nicest way that they would understand.

They assigned street cleaners in the segregation of wastes that was temporarily sent to the open lot at the back of Tesda Training Center. At first it was being segregated but as the days went by and the garbage became in bulk it was then started to smell bad because of days that garbage was stocked.

The MENRO took the time to coordinate with Metro Waste in Tarlac to transport waste/garbage. They allocate three garbage bins on the open lot of Tesda Training Center, it took three days before it became full and requested for another three garbage bins mobilized by trucks and took the garbage to be transported to Tarlac. It was just a contingency plan while still studying on how to better improve the collection of waste or better plan for some proposals of Sanitary Landfill. They fabricated push carts for the collection of garbage house to house.

As of now, with the continuous information dissemination to our people and with the support and participation of employees concerning garbage, we are coping with the proper waste management in the town of Limay, Bataan.
