Article 1 Section 2 of the Philippine Code of Ethics for Public School Teachers states that a teacher is meant any person directly engaged in teaching.  And when we say teaching it means formulating objectives of lesson plan, selecting and preparing appropriate instructional materials, selecting methods/ strategies in teaching, diagnosing learner needs, evaluating learning outcomes,  constructing test questions and maintaining clean and orderly classroom. What a tremendous work of a teacher inside the classroom.

But the teachers’ work and responsibility don’t end inside the 4-corner of their classrooms.  A teacher serves as a counselor that gives advices to the problematic pupils. They are a friend  to everyone.  They take care  of the less fortunate children.

Aside from the role of being a teacher they are also a mother to their own family. A Mother that has a plenty  of works at home. They prepare food for everyday meal, wash dishes and clothes. They also maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of their houses.  They managed/budget the finances of their family.  They take care of their children too.

Sometimes we wonder how an ordinary teacher could perform such an extra-ordinary work.  But with the help and guidance of our almighty God for which teachers are accountable, all things are possible.
