A big question mark; Is the government a hundred percent ready to handle the implementation for K- 12 curriculum? Where are they going get the huge budget for this project knowing that our country owes a lot of money from other countries? Is this really the only way to our progress? These are just some of the questions people are asking about this K-12 Curriculum.
Many are questioning the implementation of K-12 Curriculum. Some are pro’s and some are anti’s. I’m in-between. Why? Because I believe that we actually need this, it’s for us to be recognized all over the world by the time we become professionals. As we all know, Filipinos are being belittled or discriminated in other countries, I don’t know if I should use some or most. Like if you’re a doctor here in the Philippines, you’ll just be a nurse when you go abroad. And that is because of the 10-year education program. And also if you’ve finished senior high school, you’ll be able to get employed already. This is one perk of the K-12 Curriculum for those who couldn’t afford college.
And the reason why I somehow question the implementation of K-12 Curriculum is that I have doubts on the government. Yes, they’re saying that our country is K to 12 ready. But what about these lack of books, classrooms, proper toilets, and all that? It’s just scary that the first batch of this curriculum might be some kind of government’s experimentation. What if things won’t work out? What if they wouldn’t be able to provide all the students’ needs? You see, poverty is one of our country’s major problems and I’m not seeing any progress. If people can’t afford to buy food, what made you think that they will be capable of sending their child to school for that additional two years?
I just hope that the implementation of the K-12 curriculum isn’t just formality or as we heard “ ningas kugon” . I hope it wasn’t implemented just because the government wants this to be considered as one huge accomplishment of this administration. One of the reasons they implemented this is because our country is being left behind. Hence, I just hope this one will be a huge step to our progress and not another failure that we’re going to regret in the future.
