The parental support has a big part on child’s academic success. When we say parental support, we are not only talking about supporting the child’s education financially, but also giving them a solid support and getting involved in child’s school activities. Parents who get themselves involve at school create a positive impact at child’s achievement.

Parental support is one of the problems that teachers are facing. They find difficulty in communicating with parents especially of children who really needs parental support. Some parents are not willing to partner with the teachers for their child’s success. They don’t see the importance of the partnership of the parents and the teachers to educate their child.

Why parents should be involved?

  1. Parental involvement may increase child’s academic achievement. How they involved themselves intensively defines how a parent can create a positive impact on child’s achievement.
  2. Parental involvement affects child’s behaviour at school. If a child learns to adopt discipline at home, a child can also show the discipline at school. Parental involvement will also create a positive impact on child’s attitude and behaviour.
  3. Parental support and involvement would guide and hone the child’s talents and skills. Parental support may affect the child’s confidence to do every school activity that will hone child’s talents and skills.
  4. Parental involvement can help teachers handle child’s development. Communication with parents will help the teachers to know the child better. Teachers can teach effectively from that communication.
  5. Parental involvement means more time for the child. If parents are supportive and involved at school, their child will appreciate them. This will motivate the child to do more and excel at school.

How to get involved and show support as a parent?

  7. Communicate with the teacher if there are problems at home that may affect the child’s performance at school.
  8. Encourage and motivate your child to success.
  9. Know your child’s friends at school.
