All of us have trained for our chosen fields. Teachers to teach students: Doctors, to treat diseases; architects, to design building structures but none of us have any formal training on how to bring up our children. Educating our children is our all-important task as parents. This task is our all-important task as parents. This task is as delicate as it demanding.

As teachers, we encounter parents who are unaware of this responsibility. They send their children to school and do nothing to supervise their progress. They even unaware to see their children’s report cards. Teachers jokingly share with each other during their free time that the only way to forcibly bring parents to school to meet the teachers and beg for their children’s promotion. It’s so sad to note but true!

Education for the upbringing of children has become an imperative in our times. Parents must be able to counteract all the negative influences in the family. Primarily they must be convinced that it is the parents who have to teach their children values, good habits, moral principles to take them productive members of the society.

The right and duties of parents to give education is essential. We hold the key to our children’s future. We have to be aware of this marvelous reality. Although it can be difficult and demanding, we have to respond positively.
