Teaching ,support and guidance of the child is a collaborative process. That’s why parents in the community and teachers in the school should go hand in hand to make and move their children towards building a bright future.
Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) has long been established as the contributor to school
well being. From serving as liaison to parents and the community, to organizing school events
and fundraising, the Parent-Teachers Association serve as a vital role in maintaining a successful
environment. As the need for school improvement and fundraising grows so too does the
necessity for an active parent and community at large to help the school. The Parent-Teachers
Association have shown an ability to evolve and meet these needs through a higher level of
environment, revealed by the increasing numbers of PTA and other parents.
It can be said that the Parent-Teachers Association in the Philippines help in solving many crises in our school. This organization has become an indispensible entity, organized for the purpose of supplementing instructional facilities, thereby ensuring relieve to the school in meeting ppppthe demands of the society and quality education.
The school needs to help this local organization in order to meet their
primary function to provide means and opportunities for the development of the child. The
parents and teachers who are members of this association should promote an atmosphere of
goodwill and cooperation, mutual understanding, established Parent-Teachers relationship, joining together as partner fully involved in working for the common benefit and good of the school children. This association has been proven to be the mainstay of the school.
The existence of the Parent-Teachers Association has proven to be the potential instrument in
the solution of many school problems when parents talk often with teachers and become involved in the school. There are many ways that parents and teachers can communicate with each other rather than relying on the scheduled teacher conferences. Close communication between teachers and parents can help students for better learning condition. And so, this organization is considered as the best partner of the school improvement.
According to the former DECS Secretary Ricardo T. Gloria (1993), the three cornerstones forquality education are the parents, the school personnel and the community. He stressed that education of the children should begin in the parents’ role as the first teacher of their own children. He further stressed that the community environment is likewise important. A peaceful, progressive and productive community would produce law-abiding, educated and useful citizens.
Hence, there is a need to pursue a study about parent-teacher-community collaborations because such partnership is crucial in building up society of civic-organizations and productive citizens from out of our population of students.
The primary aim of the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) network is to secure a continuous connection and build harmonious relationship of the parents, teachers and the community as well.
It is expected therefore, that administrators, teacher and parents should develop a mutual
understanding and full cooperation in order that the desired goals and objectives of the school are
attained and there is no hardship and problems in the implementation of the school programs and
projects.
