Education, especially the so-called quality education is an “ all-for-one-task”.
There must be partnership among the school, family and the community to be able to realize a better learning environment for the students.
As a high school teacher, I deem it wise to have family involvement in order to expand the capacity of the school to create an effective learning situation.
This can be done, especially by a regular teacher aspiring to be a school administrator or principal someday by organizing a family of community volunteers that will help teachers and the school staff members develop an awareness of the programs, activities and projects of this organized group. After putting down the necessary information, they can create an action team that can commit to the development of comprehensive family-involvement programs and actively implement these programs to their full realization.
The action team shall be composed of teachers’ school personnel, students and community members whose collaborative efforts are directed towards a definite goal of providing services especially for the student’s needs and problems.
In my study and research , communities such as cultural organizations, senior groups and religious organizations offer extra curricular activities for further enhancement of the students full educational growth.
While it is truly difficult and taxing to establish partnership with the family and communities, this can be facilitated by high school teachers handling Filipino subjects because they can use the vernacular in meeting and convincing the communities by explaining that this community partnership is vital in the students’ learning.
