As flashback into the number one reason why I took up “ Early Childhood Education”, let me narrate it briefly. Compared to other areas in teaching, I saw the potential of being employed easily. Since previous statistics show the expected population increase of children aged 3- 5. Besides, pre – school teachers can work in a variety of settings here and abroad, either in day care centers and in public and private elementary schools.
My seven years experience in this area afforded me with variety of learnings/ insights, heart warming experiences and many more that touched the heart more than intellect. Here are my reflections.
- a.I realized that there are tremendous expectations placed on children entering pre-school as reagards to their academic, social and emotional development.
- b.Basic competencies of a pre-school teacher will focus on the following:
- 1.Social and emotional Development
- 2.Physcical Development
- 3.Language and Literary
- 4.Math Thinking
- 5.Scientific
- 6.Arts
- 7.Social studies
In short, pre school teachers like me supports the personal, academic and social
development of the child.
- a.Comparing the activities I used in the previous years, I surmised that “ no day in the classroom is ever the same.”
- b.Children love to have fun so, I have to create entertaining, engaging and creative lesson everyday.
- c.My passion for education pushed me up in my journey as an early childhood teacher.
Indded working as a pre elem teacher gave me perks which money cant buy. Yet there are also a lot of tough things to deal with when you are a pre school teacher. Some days they all seem to be troublesome. Some days all your preparations go to trash.
Oh, well, I am not complaining because these are joys in teaching and every minute of everyday encounters with them is rewarding.
