When the classes were resumed after the dismaying pandemic, several learning gaps and losses emerged. Aside from literacy in reading and in numeracy, the educational authorities also looked at the resumption of the learners interests on Physical Education which is one of the components of MAPEH in the school curriculum. This paved the educational leaders and educators to put another great perspective in the promotion of the area or component.
Shedding light on this present situation may also be realized in the execution of Physical Education among our learners in their classes now that they are back in the school. Now that we have arrived at the stage of the New Normal in the field of education certain worthwhile means must be employed.
The provision of a learning environment that is inviting and exciting should be evident. This connotes that the PE teacher is able to offer a different set up where the learners may see uniqueness in the place where they study. This could be realized if there are learning materials and devices that are designed strategically to stimulate the passion of the PE students to learn and engage more in the lessons and activities.
The PE teacher is also expected to uphold within the class the philosophy of ‘learning on the go.’ This means that the class must continue and do activities that are required by the competencies being targeted. This is to pursue vital practices to make teaching-learning productive and fruitful. This also sets the mind of the learners to have the courage to engage in various activities in Physical Education that are essential in learning.
Embarking in online teaching-learning may also be a good strategy in this time of the New Normal. When a certain untoward incident happens, instead of delaying the teaching-learning process, the PE teacher may involve the learners in online instruction. It is true that we are in a state of uncertainty nowadays and that another educational option would be advisable.
There are times that video instruction is found interesting and useful in teaching Physical Education. Through the educational video, the students are able to learn instruction regarding a particular lesson in Physical Education. These videos are indeed interactive and stimulate the students to move and be more active in dealing with the skill being taught. These engaging and motivating educational videos are important PE classes that serve as resources for learning.
The utilization of different platforms in the delivery of instructions in Physical Education may be done in google classroom and other electronic platforms. With the said means Physical Education shines as an important component in learning for it promotes not only physical being but it serves as an instrument for further learning.
Indeed, Physical Educational in the New Normal is far different from the conventional type because it goes out of the box and reaches beyond the usual expectations.
