The congress will be the one to decide if it is really in need to amend the Anti-Hazing Law of 1995, based from Malacanang.

After the death of Marc Andrei Marcos because of hazing of Lex Talliones Fraternity in San Beda College of Law, the call for strengthening of the said law.

DeputyPresidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said that the congress is the one responsible for the better execution of the law. And according to Valte, they condemn for what had happen to Marcos and that is a breakage of a bright future. She said that what happened to Marcos and those others who had undergone fraternity hazing who are just wanting for education is not acceptable.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) also showed great condemns on that death of Marcos because of hazing. They insisted that they have memorandum order that sets ustrict rule and regulations on Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that follows the probations of Repulic act no. 8049 or Anti-Hazing Law and also wishes that all the list of fraternities and sororities be submitted to CHED.

It is reported that San Beda College (SBC) doesn’t recognized any fraternity or sorority or any other forms of group alike due to the fact that there is a corresponding administrative punishment which will be given to them. And because of this, the SBC will not yet be able to submit the list to CHED.

This last February, there was another law student of SBC who is Marvin Reglos who died also because of hazing of the Lambda Rho Beta Fraternity.

“The Commission is alarmed by this second casualty from San Beda College”, said the CHED last July 31, 2014. “With this second incident involving student Marcos, the college is reminded of its heavy responsibilities and duties under R.A. 8049 or the Anti-Hazing law” added the Commission.

“Such acts of violence and injury run encounter to the basic values and fundamental principles for which HEIs are established. The Commission once again calls upon the officials of the college, the officers and members of the fraternity to undertake with outmost urgency all proper and necessary measures to search out the truth, investigate which practicality the circumstances leading to the senseless loss of a young life so that the perpetrators of the latest immoral acts would be brought to justice” ended the CHED.
