In response to the Department of Education’s Official Statement on May 2020 Inter-Agency Task Force(IATF) Meeting particularly on the confronting issue on the opening of classes by October 5, 2020 Cataning Elementary School participated in the Division Dry Run/Simulation Activity in Online Distance Learning Modality of ALIVE class last July 23, 2020 as preparation to the opening of classes.
The said school gathered data on the number of Muslim learners enrolled through the Learners Enrolment and Survey Form (LESF) result from online registration and drop box system. After knowing the number of ALIVE learners enrolled, the School ALIVE Coordinator contacted the parents of muslim learners to determine their preferred learning modality for their children. All the information gathered were reported to the principal on the virtual planning meeting. School ALIVE Committee was formed headed by the Principal, Mrs. Agnes O. Magdalera.
The committee conducted an Implementation Plan of Action to ensure the readiness of the teachers, students and the support of stakeholders. Helping the ALIVE learners to learn on how to use the google meet were done through online practice with the guidance of teachers and parents. Ms. Monatao Ampuan, ALIVE teacher also executed her project TikTok or the Tulong Instraksyunal sa Kasamahan Tungo sa Online Komunikasyon with the help of ICT Coordinator and SAC.
The Dry Run/Simulation Activity in Online Distance Learning Modality of ALIVE class was held on July 23, 2020 at 3:00 in the afternoon via google meet. Monitoring Team who visited the school and graced the activity were Dr. Bernadette Paraiso, Division ALIVE Coordinator and Ma’am Jennifer Nisay Vicedo. Also the Barangay Captains of San Jose and Cataning devoted their time.
Teacher Monatao Ampuan started her online teaching with greetings, followed by checking the attendance and prayer led by one of her pupils, then she presented her lesson sequentially.
After the Actual Dry Run, the School ALIVE Committee conducted a feed backing. They found out that due to some uncontrollable circumstances like poor internet connectivity and power interruptions, an online distance learning had experienced difficulties in terms of communication. With this, the school had decided to provide modules for each Muslim learner. Fortunately, the City Government of Balanga showed their support to the ALIVE learners by providing budget in the procurement of indigenous materials.
