            An epithet, “He’s a mile wide but only half an inch deep.” This quote aptly describes an individual who knows a little bit about a lot of things but is not really a specialist in anything”.  Also, the saying “Jack of all trades, master of none” can be categorized between praise and an insult to a person.

            The above-cited quotes may be applied to a school administrator who trying to do everything but fails to be a specialist in anything. A school administrator must be a specialist in one of not in all components of management. The school managers are always monitored, since everything he/she does effects everything else. The school managers are highly expected to prepare teachers and students in an increasingly accelerating world, this is not only in the era of communication and technology revolutions, but as well as in other areas that will develop and enhance their creativity and critical thinking.

            One management skill that should be dealt on carefully and creatively by school head is monitoring. His/ Her significant goal is to achieve high level of achievement for all. He / She is expected to develop the teacher’s knowledge, skills and decision-making. The school head must establish an environment wherein the culture is characterized by a professional learning community.  He/ She must be oriented with the process of establishing specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-targeted goals; therefore, his/ her methods, techniques and strategies and processes utilized in managing the school, and the school community in terms of goal-setting, planning, organizing, leading and controlling must be established.

            The goals that he/she will set in relation to the school and community must be specific, measurable and attainable, reliable and time-bound. (SMART). They must be compatible with the goals of the organization, since this will involve commitment and contributes to the attainment of goals.

            The aspiring school head, must put in mind that all of these cannot be done overnight. He / She must reinforce relationships. There should be an atmosphere of trust, integrity interdependence and commitment among the members of the school community, and it is the school administrator who should take the lead. So school heads are you ready to train your teachers to be the school managers?
