The head of the school and the guide of the teachers and learners is a principal. He or she should be a man with high moral standards that could establish policies and provide a comprehensive school education.

Generally, principals take primary responsibility and their function is both extensive and intensive. Their duties are wide-ranging to the point that they need to be a school general manager, agent of change, instructional leader and school marketer.

To become a good administrator, a principal should have a professional knowledge, optimist and influential. They should create conditions in the school in which the pupils receive quality instruction both inside and outside the classroom. The integration and coordination among the efforts of teachers, students, personnel and parents are expected to be done by the principal to achieve the desired objectives of education and to facilitate the over-all aspects of the teaching-learning process.

To ensure if all school activities are properly done, the principals spend more of their time working with teachers and providing appropriate help and support with students and spend less of their time in the office.

Consequently, school heads are empowered to lead the teachers and students through reforms to achieve the higher learning outcomes. They are also responsible in strengthening partnership with communities as well as government units so that they would invest time, money and effort to school to become a better place for learning.

However, the position of having to know more about the interest of every stakeholder is not an easy task. But they need to be flexible in order to make a positive difference in the lives of the students. With this, principal’s task is important to attain the excellence in education because they are the “teacher of all teachers”, “a mother of all mothers” and “a leader of all leaders”.
